Celebrating Down Syndrome Month With People in Our Community!
Each year, the month of October is marked as a designated time to recognize the cause of supporting and celebrating individuals with Down Syndrome. It brought to mind a very special individual with Down Syndrome that we were privileged to meet at the 2nd Annual Special Needs Day at Hawaiian Falls in The Colony last month. This wonderful day was hosted by Hunter’s Autism Specials, and we love this event because it serves families living with special needs and/or disabilities in such a unique way; opportunities to spend time together as a family, making last memories, and having fun! Guests enjoyed exclusive access to the park, kids activities, music and more – including one very fantastic food truck with the most unique and delicious hot dogs. Even better than the food (and it was good!)? Most definitely the answer would be: its chef and owner, Austin. This young man has never let his Down Syndrome stop him – he followed his dreams with gusto and determination, and we think he’s pretty amazing. Click here to learn more about Austin, his story, and where you can find his food truck and enjoy one of his culinary creations!
