Future Planning for Special Needs Children

 In General

Tresi Weeks will be presenting three different classes for families with special needs children to help plan for their future. The three topics are:

Guardianship 101 (18 years and up)

“What is Guardianship” and is it required when the child turns 18? What is guardianship appropriate and when is it not? How do you become a guardian and what is the legal process? Get answers to all of these questions by attending this class on┬áSeptember 14, 2015 from 7:30pm-8:30pm.

Transition Planning (18 years and up)

Tresi will present a comprehensive plan for a child with disabilities who is turning 18. She will address many issues, including decision making, housing, employment, government benefits, financing the future, legal documents, and creating a support team and life plan. You will be provided with a checklist and steps to get you started on your plan. This class will be on September 19, 2015 from 2:00pm-3:00pm.

Special Needs Planning Workshop (18 years and up)

This workshop will explain the essentials involved with a special needs plan: special needs trust, wills, life insurance and retirement beneficiary designations, powers of attorney and life plan. You will receive an overview on how each of the above areas relate to each other. This class will be on October 17, 2015 from 11:00am-12:00pm.
