Light It Up Blue for World Autism Awareness Day

In Dallas Morning News Blog, Special Needs Planning

On April 2, the global autism community will celebrate the eighth-annual World Autism Awareness Day.  In an effort to increase awareness of both the day and the disease, Autism Speaks will celebrate its global annual Light It Up Blue (LIUB) campaign, which encourages landmarks, businesses and homes to illuminate with blue lights in honor of the millions of individuals around the world affected by autism.

Offical_Autism_LogoThis year, DFW area landmark buildings, such as Renaissance Tower, Bank of America Plaza and the American Airlines Center, will join more than 10,000 other iconic structures worldwide that will shine blue lights on the evening of Thursday, April 2 in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.

Throughout the month of April, Dallas residents can lend their additional support by changing white lightbulbs to blue in their home or place of business, wear blue, make a donation, or post their support on social media to raise awareness using the hash tag #LIUB.

Join us in raising awareness of autism by wearing blue on April 2.  Be sure to register your participation at www.autismspeaks.org/LIUB.
